Post-study Poem: Ulysses
31Jan10
Though much is taken, much abides; and though
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are—
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.
Ulysses, Alfred Lord Tennyson
The above is only the final part of the poem, but it is my favorite on it’s own. Right now, I’d say the final line is my mantra coming down the home stretch with the studies (though probably beyond that too).

What more can we want in life, then to live my life true to the spirit of “Ulysses” as illuminated by Tennyson? Brilliant in the dilemma of wisdom to enjoy the quest, and aware of the physical limits imposed by age and time in the protagonist.
